Quick Start

Start using CodeMate Work to research requirements, explore ideas, and create structured outputs. This guide walks you through starting your first Work session, adding context, and refining the results.

Prerequisites

You need a CodeMate account with access to CodeMate Work. No local setup or additional tooling is required. Work runs directly in the browser.

Start a Work session

1. Open CodeMate Work and enter your first prompt

Navigate to CodeMate Work and describe what you want to research, understand, or plan. Be specific about your goal and provide any relevant details.

A useful prompt could be:

“I want to add role-based access control to an e-commerce

application. Research the requirements, evaluate possible

approaches, and create user stories with acceptance criteria.”

2. Add relevant context

Add information that can help Work understand your request. You can attach files or images, use resources from My Drive, mention knowledge bases, or access remote files when required.

3. Use connected tools when needed

If your task requires information from external services, use Connectors to connect supported tools through MCP servers and provide that information as part of your Work session.

4. Review and refine the output

Review the response generated by Work and continue the conversation with follow-up instructions. Ask Work to expand, modify, restructure, or explore a different approach based on your requirements.

5. Apply rules when needed

Use available Rulebooks to guide Work with specific instructions or project guidelines. This helps keep the generated output aligned with your requirements.
